The Strickler Family

The William & Janet Strickler Nonprofit Center (WJSNC) is a tax-exempt, non-profit organization owned by the Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation. We provide affordable space, resources, and opportunities for collaboration to local nonprofit agencies, allowing them to focus on their missions to address the most pressing needs of our community.

Our Mission

To steward the Center by maintaining and improving quality centralized space to enable nonprofit agencies to address the needs of the community.

Our Story

The Strickler Center started as a community effort to meet the growing need for affordable nonprofit space. In 2015, several organizations, including Community Compassion Network, Isabella County Restoration House, Clothing INC, and The Care Store, joined forces to find a shared home.

With community support, they secured the former Victory Church building on High Street through a lease arranged by United Way of Gratiot and Isabella Counties. In 2018, a successful fundraising campaign, supported by a generous gift honoring William Strickler, allowed the purchase and renovation of the building. Ownership was entrusted to the Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation to ensure a stable, lasting future.

Since opening in 2019, the Strickler Center has provided a reliable, affordable space for nonprofits to grow and collaborate, allowing them to focus resources on the most urgent needs of the community.

Who We Are Today

Located at 1114 West High Street in Mt. Pleasant, the Center is managed by a volunteer Board of Trustees committed to strengthening local nonprofits.

We provide shared infrastructure and support that help organizations do what they do best: serve our community. Right now, 6 nonprofit agencies call the Center home, collectively reaching thousands of local residents each year, helping families meet basic needs.

Grateful for Our Partners

The Strickler Nonprofit Center exists thanks to the vision and generosity of the Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation, the Strickler family, and countless donors, volunteers, and community members who believe in the power of nonprofits to change lives.

Together, we’re building a stronger community, one organization, one family, and one story at a time.
